We know that library services must always adapt: Ranganathan’s fifth law of library science tells us that the library is a growing organism. Recent headlines declare that mobile and tablet Internet use exceeds desktop use worldwide, and that “Google favours mobile friendly websites”. Smart libraries then, are mobile and available whenever and wherever the students need to be. Thus they save the users’ time – another of Ranganathan’s laws. Students at the Instituto de Empresa (IE) might be busily tapping on smartphones in order to check their library accounts for holds, renew books or search the catalogue, for example. Watch a short video that shows how quickly and simply this works.
Instituto de Empresa Library App Video from EMEARC 2016
Watch this short video that was presented by the Instituto de Empresa (IE) Library as a Lightning Talk at the EMEA Regional Council Meeting 2016 in Madrid, Spain. In this video, you will see how they have developed an app, so that their users are able to check all their library information – e.g. loans, renewals, the catalogue – wherever they are.
